Prostate cancer is a disease in which cancer develops in the prostate, a gland in the male reproductive system. It occurs when cells of the prostate mutate and begin to multiply out of control. It is one modality of therapeutic ultrasound, and although it induces hyperthermia it should not be confused with this technique which  temperature within the tissue rises to 65° to 85°C, destroying the diseased tissue by coagulation necrosis.
